Hex 32 - Bear River

The rapids of the Bear River thunder down the slopes of the Cloud Peaks. The rugged alpine vegetation has taken over any traces of civilization here, except for two wooden bridges.

Biome: Coastal Hills. Dark pines, rugged cliffs, vivifying wind, salt and seaweed, enthusiastic seagulls.

Encounter Rules

Generate an encounter the first time the party goes to one of this hex’s features and every 12 hours. Encounters can happen on the way to the location or at the destination. If an encounter would happen while the party rests, good survival skills while setting up camp make the encounter happen after the full rest is completed. Search the Baldur’s Gate Wiki for information on named NPC. Do not hesitate to replace any named NPC by one the players have already met from time to time! It makes for a better story.

Feature A - Coast Bridge

This long wooden bridge is precariously hanging from hemp ropes 100 ft above the river. From here, you can see the raging Sea of Swords.

Feature B - Mountain Bridge

This covered bridge links two cliffs at a point where the Bear River is narrower. It is still used by Amnian nobles on hunting trips, and the gnolls that have taken the abandoned castle nearby…

Feature C - Mountain Lake

This crystal clear lake might be an idyllic location, but it has been named by Amnian rangers as one location where the gibberling horde spawns at night.
